And the band played on...

A trend has developed over the last few weeks. We have a fair number of people learning lindy hop but as soon as the lesson ends they leave and don't stay for the dance. I would chalk it up to not being able to stay (curfews or the like) except that it isn't simply one or two, it is the whole group.

What this means is that we end up with a large group of younger swing dancers who know how to east coast, but only a handful of lindy hoppers.

In the end I think that this may be a plea for more people to bring the lindy-hop back to the lindy-lounge.

As I write this we have 19 people dancing on the floor. How do we have an odd number? one gentleman is doing charleston in the corner.

I put loads of French music on the list this week. I've been on a French kick lately so I used a bunch of Paris Combo, Georges Brassens, and some of Ben Charest's stuff. Works pretty well.

Alright, gotta get bacck to the music!

The First Post

The DJ here.

Just posting to prove that we're up and running. We've got about 35 people here dancing at the Eagle's hall in downtown olympia. Right now Candye Kane is playing and there are only two couples on the wall. Next up I've got some Bump Kitchen and then we'll see where we go from there.

Soon there should be pictures and I'll work on getting a playlist posted each week.
